Linton & Mac Press Launch Aberdeen

I can not tell you how excited I was when I heard about this brand new hair salon opening in Aberdeen.  It had the promise of something edgy and different and I have to tell you it did not disappoint!

It seems a lot of hairdressers go for the same vibe, clean, pretty and sometimes a little unfriendly but Linton and Mac Aberdeen has none of this.  It is Urban, modern, relaxed, cool and feels like you are in an edgy London suburb like Shoreditch or Spitalfields.

Jennifer Linton and Joanna MacDonald make up the duo Linton & Mac.  Both professional hairdressers with many years experience in other salons around Aberdeen, decided to take the next step and create their own funky new salon.

I love love love the decor and the layout.  The Long table for styling and different heights of seating is so different to anything I have seen before.  All the products and tools are hidden as they don't want their customers to feel like they are in a hairdresser but somewhere they can relax.

Everything about the salon screams new and edgy! On top of this the girls and the whole team are very friendly and helpful.

My favourite part (aside from the cool decor) is the blow-dry bar! Hop in for a half hour appointment before your night out, accompanied with a glass of prosecco or a gin & tonic of course, and get coiffed with your gal pals. All for £25, genius!

The official opening date for Linton & Mac Aberdeen is the 1st September.  I predict this place is going to be VERY popular so get booked in now on 01224 641664!

Kurt Geiger Sale Picks!

So there I was browsing for a pair of shoes to go with my new green dress when I landed on the Kurt Geiger website and couldn't stop looking at all the pretty shoes and boots in their sale. I will be dreaming of closets of beautiful foot wear tonight for sure.  The plan was to do a blog post featuring sale picks from different shops but honestly I couldn't narrow it down from Kurt Geiger so here we are, a whole blog post filled with sale picks from the one shop!

These are just beautiful, very Chanel esque at a small fraction of the price. I love the little heel.

I just love these. They are so cute.  Perfect worn with black ripped skinny jeans!

Another strappy court, slightly more statement with the gold buckle but my how they would add a wow look to any dress at New Year

There is something about the colour of these shoes that is just divine. Such a bargain too.

Again this colour. So gorgeous. These are my favourite out of all the shoes here, well apart from stirrup. They are so femanine and delicate.

Totally and utterly drawn to the khaki colour of these beauties.  Very Mcqueen!

Pure Spa Aberdeen Pre Christmas Blogger Event

Pure Spa Aberdeen invited some of us lucky bloggers down for a little treat to start the run up to Christmas. We were all to receieve a mystery spa treatment, I had no idea what mine would be and invisioned myself being hit with fern leaves to cleanse my body or a bout of colonic irrigation (they don't actually offer either of these treatments here btw).

In fairness, I wan't actually far wrong with the being hit with fern leaves scenario... The spa treatment I pulled out of the hat was a 'Thai Bundle'.  This involved a type of cleansing massage using hot bundles of herbs being pressed in to specific areas on your back promoting toxins being released from your body. I have to admit when the treatment started I did have a little giggle to myself but as it went on I actully found it very relaxing and didn't want it to end.  The very lovely therapist advised me to keep the oils on my back over night and true to her word this morning I was wishing I had the oils everywhere else too as the skin on my back is feeling super soft.

Perhaps not a treatment to have if you are looking for something to unwind but definitely suitable if you have had a long weekend of boozing or want to start off a healthy cleanse.

We also got treated to lots of lovely cupcakes and a beautiful manicure with Leighton Denny nail polish. Which I am totally in love with by the way.  I chose the 'diamond rose' polish which contains small particles of real diamonds... how could I turn that down?  I don't know how they did it but the manicure lasted 4 days with no chips, I was amazed.

It was a fabulous evening which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for having us Pure Spa!!

Recent Blogging Events Roundup

We have been really lucky up here in Aberdeen recently with some fab blogger events!  I am really grateful for all the fun activities and treats I get to experience as a blogger and always have a ball.  Over the past month I have attended quite a few events but didn't want to bore you all with lots of posts so I have condensed a few in to one, I hope you don't mind :-)

Student Lock in Bon Accord Shopping Centre Aberdeen

My good friend Laura kindly invited me to attend this event with her (yes I know I am not a student anymore, a mature student of life maybe.. ha!).  With up to 30% off at shops like Topshop, River Island and New Look it was a great time to indulge in some retail therapy.

I also got to meet Lydia Bright from The only Way is Essex, she was there with a pop up shop for her store Bella Sorella. A lovely lass she was too.

Autumn Fashion Fix Union Square Aberdeen

I was invited down to Union Square for a fun day of activities celebrating their Autumn Fashion fix event. We arrived early in the morning and were treated to a lovely breakfast smoothie from Juice Master. I chose a raspberry flavoured one and it was delish!

Next it was on to our styling challenge.  We were put in to pairs and I was with Rachel from twentysomethingbeauty. There were rails of clothes from shops including Zara and H&M and we had to select autumn outfits for each other. Luckily Rach and myself really liked how we were styled. In fact I might have to pop to Zara and pick up the skirt and shirt I was wearing!

Then we were off to watch hair and makeup tutorials on stage presented by the lovely Nadine Hawkins (No1 Magazine Editor), followed by a fashion show.  At this point I had to dash because I was attending my grans 90th birthday party, but the rest of the bloggers were treated to lunch, makeovers and massages at Pure Spa.

Overall it was a fab day and I had a lot of fun. I enjoyed the styling part best as I did this in my old job and loved it so much.

OFFICIAL BLOGGER | RGU World of Colours Fashion Show | Part 2 Backstage

After being given the fantastic opportunity to be an official Blogger for the World of Colour Fashion show alongside my blogging bud Laura Liparazzi. I already posted pictures and info on the rehearsal here and now I wanted to share with you the backstage lowdown from the show itself.

Toni & Guy were there making a great job of the hair.  Peter is seen here doing the beautiful model, Diane's hair using plenty of Extra Strong Mousse by Label M and some serious back combing.

The make up was a mix of stand out lipsticks and flared eyeliner. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick was used to contour cheek bones and their professional corrector palette to perfect any blemishes giving the skin a flawless finish, Inglot Lipstick pencil's were used for a long lasting matte finish.  There were also plenty of colourful Mac eyeshadows to choose from.

The Rails were all laid out ready to go.  Now all thats left is to head out to the front row and watch the show...

Blogger Event | Benefit Cosmetics

After reading so many posts on other blogs about Benefit events I was so excited to finally get to attend one myself. Hooray. Thanks to Laura from Liparazzi blog for organising it. She is a super star.

I have been waiting for this event for what seems like an age. I was a little bit looking forward to what they had in store for us. Oh and maybe a little goodybag was on my mind too!

The event was held in Debenhams, Aberdeen. They have just launched their spanking new beauty hall, which is amazing and bright and lovely by the way. Very fab.

The benefit girls are absolutely amazing and lovely. I honestly can not praise their fun, friendly, outgoing attitudes enough. Seriously incredible benebabes.. blonde hair, black outfits, flawless skin and perfect eyebrows.

So on to the event. It started by the Benefit gals offering us some wee cakes and a glass of fizz (I went for fruit juice). Then on to a fabulous make up masterclass held by Claire the event co-ordinator from Benefit. I loved learning about products like Cha Cha Tint and seeing how simple they were to apply. I realised how great Benefit is for everyday use and perfect for quick easy application too.

After the masterclass we had a good test of the products. I am now lusting after That Gal, Most Glamorous Nudes Ever and Watts Up to name a few things.

One thing I realised it how fab the Benebabes eyebrows were. I am in serious need of a brow-over! Fortunately, we are lucky enough to have a Benefit brow bar in Aberdeen and I was super excited to learn we had been given a coupon for a free wax and tint at the bar. Yay, so look out for a review on this soon!

I noticed reading other posts about Benefit events that they often have a little competition during the event. About 5 minutes in to the masterclass the girls announced our competition. Whoever came up with the best # for Benefit events in Aberdeen would win some benefit products. I was definitely entering this. I came up with #benedeen and to my absolute joy I won. There were actually 3 of us  who came up with the same # believe it or not (must be a case of great minds think alike ha ha). The other girls were Kate and Amy.

At the end of the night we were given a lovely goody bag full of products for us to try...

Huge thanks to Laura, Claire, Jo and the rest of the Benefit girls in Aberdeen for a fab time. I can't wait 'till the next one.
