5 best Christmas gifts for your dog

You might be thinking has the girl gone mad, surely she doesn't buy an actual gift for her dog and well yes, yes I do.  It may not quite be along the lines of a dog shower (although not ruling that out for the future) it is more like a cute little jumper which she doesn't wear and a bone.

But for those who like to treat their little prince or princess to something special at Christmas here is a list of the 5 best Christmas gifts for your dog :-)
pop up portable bath & sdog shower | bubble machine for dogs | Dog lips toy | pet peek pet window | interactive dog bowl

Which is your favourite? Will you be buying any of these for your pooch?

Pumpkin Carving Halloween Fun!!!

Hello pumpkins! How are you all doing this week?
Who is excited that it is halloween? I have finally got around to carving my first pumpkin of the season.  I wanted to do something a little different, every year I tend to stick to pumpkin faces so I went with a design that wasn't a face for once.  I got my pumkin from Tesco for £1, most supermarkets do them pretty cheap.

I start by removing the top of the pumpkin with a small knife and begin removing the inside goop.  Once the goop is gone I work away at the fleshy parts using a spoon and upwards motions.  When it comes to carving your design, it is better if the flesh isn't too thick.

I picked out a witchy silhoutte from http://www.pumpkinpile.com/patterns_jacks.php and printed it out.  I had to print out a few at different sizes before I got the right fit.  Cutting out my silhoutte carefully I was getting very excited (what a child ha ha).  I like to pin my design on to the pumpkin, this holds it in place better for drawing around it using a biro.  Now I am ready to carve...

What I use to carve is a stanley knife because it is small and I get the most precise cut. Overall from start to finish this little beauty took me an hour and a half.  Well worth it I think!!

Wishing you a fun and spooky Halloween from the scary version of Ashly!!

What do you think of my pumpkin lovelies and will you be carving one?

5 BEAUTY Pet Peeves!

Who doesn't enjoy a good rant every now and again? My chosen subject today is beauty and the beauty industry. There are so many things I love about this industry but here are somethings which get on my wick...

1. The nail polish on your toes lasting soooo much longer than it does on your finger nails! How annoying is it when you go for a mani/pedi and by day 3 your finger nails are looking less than perfect but your toes are still fandabadozy for the next 4 weeks. What are you suppose to do? Paint your finger nails the same matching colour for all that time?

2. Products that don't do what they say on the tin. Why say a product doubles the length of your eyelashes when it is nothing more than a wand in some black goop and does absolutely nothing of the sort. Surely it is obvious that people who buy it will be peeved when they find out it doesn't do what it is suppose to! Needless to say they will not repurchase or recommend it to a friend. On another note... do not advertise your product as a gentle makeup remover if it is going to sting my eyes like high heaven when I put it on!

3. Products that smell so strong you can taste the fragrance. Who wants to put anything on their lips that smells like it has just come out of a Tommy Girl perfume spray? Seriously? I sure don't.

4. Overpricing. You see that a brand is advertising their latest glitter nail polish and think oooh that is beautiful but can I justify the £18 price tag? No, let me tell you that you can't because the chances are that you can pop in to your local boots or superdrug and pick up the exact same formula or something very similar in a different bottle for £2.50.

5. Ridiculous advertising. There you are sitting watching the x factor when on comes an advert for the latest anti aging cream, not only are the people in the advert super models but they are about 22. Come on... do you really expect us to believe that a) these girls have used this product for said time before filming the advert giving them such beautiful complexions and b) that these girls actually had any wrinkles to begin with!

what are your pet peeves beauties? I would love to hear about them.

10 Things I am Really Bad at!

1. Getting up in the Morning.
I can't stand being woken up in the morning by anyone or anything. I find it so difficult to leave my warm cosy bed.

2. Exercise
Yup I find getting the motivation to exercise difficult, more so than the act of actually doing it!

3. Winged Eyeliner
This one drives me loopy. No matter how hard I try I can not make a success of black winged liner on my eyelids! Help needed!

4. Cooking
I am just an awful cook, no matter how hard I try. Pretty much it always turns in to some sort of kerfuffle. Who forgets to put flower in a cake? yup me.

5. Turning off technology before bed
Oh my word this is the hardest. I just can't put it down. As soon as I shut down the laptop, out comes the mobile phone! Oh dear... put it away Ash!

6. Making my dog sleep in her bed
Pretty much every day I tell myself "tonight Poppi will not sleep in my bed".  And pretty much every night she sleeps in my bed #fail

7. Saving Money
Ah golly this is shocking! I am so bad at saving money. I don't even try to do it because I know it wont happen.

8. Picking up the dog poop in the garden
Ok who even wants to do this? Need I say more.

9. Spending Bans
I am actually thinking about attempting one of these pretty soon but every effort in the past has been abysmal! Yes I do need that extra pair of jeans ok!

10. Answering my phone
Just bad at it. I hear it ring and I don't like answering it. I feel like it is ringing and intruding on what I am doing so I make a stand! It is not so much about the person calling more about the actual phone.. who said you could ring?!

So guys and gals what if anything are you really bad at?

Ooooggrrhh Jiminy Cricket What a Fail!!

Yesterday I wrote up this pretty ace post (or so I thought) planning to publish it this morning.  Then last night I decided "I'll just take one more look at it before I press the publish button".  But my little fingers couldn't help themselves type type type and before I knew it whatttt theee hell! It was all over the shop.

I was like... what am I actually trying to say here? Not good people, not good at all!

If you picture a Lovely gooey Chocolate cake with a big dollop of super spicy yellow mustard on it, that is basically what it looked like.

So what choice was I left with for my Thursday morning post?
A) No Post
B) A random post I had written about crazy people on ebay
or
C) Cry myself to sleep.

I decided to cry myself to sleep. But then, an epiphany! I will post about my failure at posting, throw in the true identity of superman, a picture of a poor dog who needs a hand and some cute animal pics then maybe nobody will notice what a failure this post is... success!!!

Sorry people, Here is to a better post tomorrow.

A bit of Baking | Roasted Blueberry Cupcake Fun!

First of all I want to tell you that I am shocking at cooking and baking. More so at cooking because for some reason it makes me pretty anxious and I get stressed. Usually it ends up with me messing up the ingredients or forgetting to add something like flour which has actually happened before. And the whole thing becomes a mess which enforces the idea that yes I am shocking at cooking.

Anyhoo I am really trying to learn how do bake and cook as I feel a little stupid for not being able to. I think the problem is that I have no confidence with it. With this in mind I set out to find a simple but yummy cupcake recipe (who doesn't love a cupcake?) and I happened upon this one by Sweet Peony and thought what the hell, I will give it a go.

And give it  a go I did. I tried my very best.

First thing I had to do was the part of the recipe which made it special which is roasting the blueberries in the oven until the all burst and were melting. This allows them to blend in lovely to the mixture instead of having huge whole blueberries in your cupcakes which I don't really enjoy!

After I had done this. I managed to follow the rest of the recipe to the tee and was very pleased with myself as I spooned the mixture in to the trays ready for cooking. It was all purple and yummy looking. It also tasted pretty nice.

So off they went in to the oven. And I started making the icing. I knew I wasn;t going to completely cover them in the sweet stuff so I sort of concocted my own recipe (this is the part that usually gets me in trouble). How wrong can I go with icing? Well it turns out not that wrong, this time. I used half a cup of unsalted butter, added a spot of vanilla esence then mixed in icing sugar and some philadelphia until I had the right consistency. For me I think the key to the best icing is cream cheese (look at me sounding all like Nigella Lawson).

The hardest bit for me was getting the icing on the cakes. I had visions of wonderfully piped icing looking all professinal and perfect. Well it didn't quite turn out that way. They look kind of like nipples...

But they taste absolutely divine. I am not sure if you can tell in the pics but the sponge is all purply and lovely.

So here they are. You can see above, I tried out a few different frosting options... which didn't go too well! But it takes practice and I am pretty happy with my little roasted blueberry cupcakes.

What do you think?

The Blogger Slump Virus | WARNING CONTAGIOUS!!!!

Hear yourself saying things like.. what the hell am I blogging for? Nobody is reading it anyway! Everybody hates me! I am a crap blogger! My pictures are shit! Everyones blog is better than mine as you cry in to your pillow? You are not alone! The blogger slump is a seriously contagious virus which reaches far and wide to any and all bloggers in fact in medical circles it is throught that at one time or another every blogger will experience this dreaded disease!

Several celebrites have already succumbed to the effects of this debilitating disease!! *Warning pictures may be alarming*

So what can you do to innoculate yourself from it I hear you ask? Well to be honest there is nothing you can do... but, I have managed to compose a few steps you can take which may help should the dreaded virus take hold

1. Repeat this mantra to yourself at least 5,000,000 times a day "My blog is absolutely fantastic who cares if nobody other than myself is reading it"

2. Just keep blogging. The more posts you write the more chance you have of people reading your blog. I recommend 20-30 posts a day. And make sure they are quality posts or everyone will think you are full of crap. Stay up all night if you have to.

3. Send hundreds of emails and facebook messages to all of your friends and family with your blog link. If they really do love you they will check it out. If not find new friends.

4. Send the same tweet to every blogger you can find urging them to RT and read your latest amazing post. The more you tweet them the less chance you have of them actually reading your blog and they will probably think you are a f***ing idiot, they may even block you. But that just means you are great at social networking! Keep it up!

5. To be a savvy blogger make sure you include lots of words which are heavily searched for on google. You can use adwords to find them. Even if they have nothing to do with your post. Who cares? At least it will get people to your site. Win!

So when you excitedly go to check your stats to see you only had 10 views yesterday on a post which took you 5 hours to write, don't worry. In the words of Kevin costner in a field of dreams "If you build it, they will come" and if they don't come well at least you still have your pillow to cry in to.

And remember the words you are painstakingly spending hours writing will help heal the world from poverty and starvation so it is up to you... keep blogging and everyone will be happy or stop and the whole world will die. It really is your choice... I know which one I am choosing!!!

Picture Posting Fun... My week in photos!

The last picture post I did seemed to go down quite well so I thought I would do another one for you.  This one is more of a what have I been up to this week rather than random pictures of myself.

Starting with the top left x

Pic 1
I am totally obsessed with glitter nail polish most of the time. I love sparkly things. This particular one I got as a present from my sister, a few people have asked and it is ModelsOwn Pink Fizz. At the moment I am trying to fit it in to every manicure I do on myself. It is just so pretty and sparkly. The darker shade is OPI Every month is Oktoberfest which I got from Harrods a little while ago.

Pic 2
I decided I wanted to take a close up picture of these cute little jumping lambs in the field but everytime I got close to them they ran away so I ended up with this picture which I think is ok. I thought "this is something you don't see in London". Well, unless you go to the farm which I do quite often.

Pic 3
I wanted to watch a film on Easter Sunday and picked this one "the time travellers wife" which I have actually seen before but I forgot how sad it was. I was like a tap I couldn't turn myself off. Seriously... do not watch this film unless you want a snot fest. It should come with a warning thats for sure.

Pic 4
This is my little chi chi if you can spot her poking out between the banisters. She likes to sit here at the top of the stairs and watch people coming and going in and out of the house. She looks so cute. I was going out and she was sitting staring at me, I felt so bad, even though I only went out for a few hours. EEp what a sap I am.

Pic 5
Now these are my nephews apple flavoured organic rice cakes which I tried the other day and I actually am in love with. They taste so yummy and they are pretty healthy. I do feel bad stealing food from a baby but well a girls gotta eat!

Pic 6
This is of course a pic of my OPI giveaway which ends in a few days so enter now or you will miss out!! (shameless plug) but seriously I am very proud of the picture and of my 1st giveaway I thought the day would never come. But it did and here it is hooray!

Pic 7
I was in the car when I realised the landscape looked like a winter wonderland. It was so pretty I nearly cried, well not really but it was very pretty. I half expected sugar plum fairies to start falling from the sky.

Pic 8
Ahhh my knee socks. I love socks like this they keep your legs warm under your trousers... a pratical girl I am. These particular ones are Christian Dior ooooh I know very posh! I got them at an outlet centre either in Oxford or one in New York I really can't remember but they are nice and bright like the sun which I hope will come out again soon!

Pic 9
Now this my pretties is Audrey Hepburn. I love her. she is so beautiful and classy and beautiful and classy, wait did I say that already? Anyway she had a tough childhood during the war and overcame it to become a movie star, what a fairytale eh. I recently watched a film about her life and I am a bit more obsessed with her than I was before.

Well that is it my gorgeous peanuts! I hope you enjoyed reading a little of what I have been up to.

Lots of Love
