GUEST POST | What Colour of Eyeshadow should I wear?

Hi everyone!! Today I have a guest post for you from one of my absolute favourite people.  We may not have known each other a long time but I know we are life long buds for sure.  Not only is she an amazing person and super gorgeous but she is an extremely talented makeup artsist too.  So listen up and make sure you go and follow her blog ...

Hi guys! Today I wanted to show you a purple look that I created. It is perfect for those of you who have green, brown, or hazel eyes. Following color wheel theory, purple is a complimentary opposite of green, brown, and hazel eyes. If you use, green shadows on green eyes, brown shadows on brown/hazel eyes - your eye color won't "POP" as much as it could.

You may be wondering what color wheel theory is at this point, NO worries! I got you covered! Let's briefly cover the basics...

COLOR WHEEL THEORY BASICS:
You may have learned about the color wheel at some point in your life. I will assume that most people reading are beginners and will explain it as such. Within the color wheel, there are PRIMARY, SECONDARY, and TERTIARY colors.
  • PRIMARY COLORS: are colors that can’t be made by mixing other colors
    • Blue
    • Yellow
    • Red
  • SECONDARY COLORS: are a mixture of two primary colors
    • Blue + Red = Violet
    • Red + Yellow = Orange
    • Yellow + Blue = Green
  • TERTIARY COLORS: are a mixture of primary and secondary colors
    • Yellow (Primary color) + Orange (Secondary color) = Yellow-orange
    • Red (Primary color) + Orange (Secondary color) = Red-orange

Next let’s discuss the cool and warm sides of the color wheel…

COOL:
  • Means the base of the shade is a blue tone
  • Example: there is a blue toned base to cool shades of purple
WARM:
  • Means the base of the shade is a yellow tone
  • Example: there is a yellow toned base to warm shades of purple
If you look at the photo below, you can see the row of purples on your far upper right are cooler shades of purple (with a blue base). Now look two rows over at the lighter purples (to the right of the burgundy shadows) – notice how they are warmer shades of purple? That’s because yellow has been added to them to make them warmer.
Why should you care? Because, knowing which colors are complimentary opposites to your eye color will help you enhance your natural features. In general, just remember, that if you have brown eyes you want to look to the opposite side of the color wheel (notice how blue, green, and purple are on the opposite of brown below). If you have green or hazel eyes, look to the opposite side of the wheel and you find purples, plums, and earth tones.

COLOR WHEEL THEORY IN RELATION TO EYESHADOWS:

GREEN EYES OR GREEN EYES WITH GOLD FLECKS:
  • Purple shadows
  • Plum shadows
  • Shimmery taupe colored shadows (with warm undertones)
  • Copper shadows (pull golden flecks forward and make green tones radiant)
  • Silver shadows

BROWN EYES:
  • Medium & light brown eyes:
    • Purple shadows
    • Plum shadows
    • Green-gold shadows
    • Copper shadows
  • Dark brown eyes: vibrant blue and navy blue
  • With brown eyes in general you can really experiment with any color!

Bourjois Bronzing Primer Review and Swatches

Hip-Hooray-Hi

How are you doing today beauties? I am excited to write this review because I have been testing this product out for the last few weeks but I wanted to wait before I dived in head first and recommended something that wasn't as brill as I thought.

So let me start by saying that the Bourjois Bronzing primer is £9.99 in Boots but in Superdrug it is only £6.99. I bought it in Boots (dog damnit). But when I repurchase it will be form Superdrug for shiz!

Anyhoo lets get on with the review...

At first glance the colour in the pot is very similar to the Sleek bronzer from the light contour palette and the Bourjois Bronzing Powder in medium/51 but I can assure you, it is very different. I could go on forever about the differences but that would make for a very long post. All I will say is that in my opinion it is a lot better than the other two in terms of colour, blendability and overall texture.

The consistency of the Bourjois Bonzing Primer is a lovely smooth and silky mousse. It is extremely blendable and buildable which makes it easy to apply. You can build the colour until your heart is content. I am cautious to say that it would be suitable for very pale skin but it is definitely worth a try because the consistency and colour is so fabulous. Not a hint of dirty mud or orange anywhere in sight.

I just can not say enough good things about this product. It is definitely my holy grail bronzer (not my holy grail primer). That would be my only negative, it is not the best primer I have used. Products like Benefits Porefessional do a better job of actually priming, although it does smooth out the skin somewhat. I would think of it as more of a bronzer if you are buying it as a primer you may be slightly disappointed.

I have been using it for contouring and as an all over daily tanner for my face. I have used it over foundation, I have used it under foundation, over primer and under Primer. I have also used it on its own.  It has performed brilliantly in every single task. It has so many uses and it really is up to you what you want to do with it.

I can honestly say that this little tub of goodness has brought a lot of joy to my life and pale face over the past few weeks.

It is especially useful if, like me, you don't use any type of self tanner or gradual tanner on your face (they give me spots) because now you can have a matching face and body. Result!

Seriously girls this is a great product. It works well with my Real Techniques buffing brush to apply all over my face and my Real Techniques contour brush for contouring, don't worry if you have neither of these as I am sure it would work well with any number of brushes and of course you can always use your fingers.

I have given it a 9/10 for packaging because there is nothing fancy about the packaging although it does the job well, and a 9/10 in value 4 money purely because I paid £9.99 for it and I feel like at the rate I am going it wont last long enough to give it a 10. If I had paid the £6.99 I would have given it 9.5/10.

I would love to hear if you have tried it or if you are going to purchase it.

My Urban Decay Wishlist... So much gorgeousness!

I recently went to a lovely Blogger event being held by Urban Decay (I blogged about it here) and I fell in love with so may of their products. I don't actually own anything from their brand which is totally shocking! I have a couple of dupes like the Heaven and Earth eyeshadow palette from MUA but I am dying to get my paws on the real thing.

There is a pretty large list of products I am after so I thought I would do a wish list and ask you beauties to help me decide what to get first!

Urban Decay Razor Sharp Finishing Powder | £21
This is suppose to be great at giving your skin an 'airbrushed' look especially for pictures. Seems like a great idea for blogger events when cameras are everywhere.. ahh!

Urban Decay Naked Skin | £27
Light diffusing foundation giving you a retouched appearance. One of the representatives from the brand had this on at the event I was at and it looked amazing! There are lots of colours to choose from too which is a plus.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Junkie | £14
This is a really beautiful emerald green colour. I had it applied on me at the event and it really was lovely.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Perversion | £14
Apparently these pencils last very well and I need a black eyeliner for my waterline that doesn't just smudge off and end up in a goopy mess.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original | £15
This is amazing. It really works. I got a sample of it in a goodybag and it really helps your eyeshadow last and enhances it completely. I have to get it soon!

Urban Decay Naked Palette | £36
It seems like I am the only blogger in the entire world who doesn't have this palette and I know I am really missing out because the colours are gorgeous!

Urban Decay Baked Bronzer | £20
I am in the market for a new bronzer and this one looks so lovely.  Plus I love the natural look of baked products.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray | £19.50
This stuff is suppose to be really good at setting your make up and refreshing your face. I would really like to try it.

Urban Decay Brow Box Brown Sugar | £17
I am still looking for the perfect eye brown set and this one looks like a winner. Plus I love the little mirror it comes with in the box.

So beauties what do you think? Have you tried any of these products already?
