Addicted to GRAND DESIGNS

As the title says, I am addicted to the tv show 'Grand Designs'. I adore the fantastic futuristic beautiful homes which are created from start to finish. Amazing.

The homes with an abundance of glass and open spaces with modern angles. Anything which brings the outside in I am a huge fan of.

Here are a few I adore..

TUTORIAL - D.I.Y How to - Dip Dye Your Own Nails!!

For this tutorial you will need:

  • Nail varnish ( you can use more than 2 colours if you wish)
  • A sponge
  • Cotton buds
  • Nail polish remover

1. Ok first thing is first, shape your nails and make sure they are tidy.

2. Paint your chosen nail polish on to the sponge like so

3. Place the sponge adjacent to your nail ready for application. I apply variably, so one coat I do left to right then the next I do right to left. This helps to maintain an even application per nail.

Press down on your nail with the sponge.

4. Repeat with every nail on one hand.

After first coat

5. Reaply nail varnish to the sponge after every coat and repeat steps 3 and 4 until you are satisfied with the coverage on your nails.

I apply slightly differently after the first coat, you might find rolling with the sponge over the nail like this easier.

After 4 coats, I am going to do one more because the tips of some of my nails are still not fully covered.

Okay I would say that is enough, 5 coats.

After 5 coats.

5. Next, let them dry 2-3 mins.

6. Pour some varnish remover in to the bottles lid, dip your cotton buds in and remove excess varnish from your fingers.

7. Apply some clear varnish as a top coat. I find this prolongs chipping so worth doing.

after removing excess varnish

8. Done, now you have beautiful 'dip dyed' nails your friends will be envious of! So the secret it out... get painting.

Home Decorating - My favourite picks!

I have literally just moved house, which can be very stressful. I don't like the packing up part at all, in fact I detest it. But the unpacking and decorating I love.

I am totally obsessed with hunting down all sorts of decorations for my new home. It is one of my favourite things to  do right now, a blank canvas and you can create what ever you like. A fresh start.

So here are some things I have fallen in love with.

This fabric is gorgeous. I spotted it in Peter Jones in Sloan Square. A stylish linen, very girly and bright.

John Lewis Red Rose

This cuttlery, pink! What else can I say... It is really girly and fun. Again pink, I can see a pattern emerging!

Cuttlery - John Lewis

I have been looking at these drawers for my bathroom. There are many variations on ebay and online. I like the colours of this one and it has the option of using the top part as a seat, or for rolled towels. It also comes in a standard 3 up unit.

I really like the mix of dark rich wood and the greenery below. Classy and homely. The ducks are cute too.

This mirror is absolutely stunning! I want it for above my bed, urgh so gorgeous!

And of course something for Poppi. A lovely new bowl... I think she likes it!

Well that is it for now folks.

REVIEW - Clinique Naturally Gentle Eye Make-up Remover

REVIEW
CLINIQUE Naturally Gentle Eye Make-up Remover                £14 (75ml)

I have tried so many different eye make up removers which claimed to be gentle or kind but they turned out to sting the bajeesus out of my peepers!

I read about the Clinique Naturally Gentle Eye Make-up remover £14 for 75ml, which claims it is as 'gentle to the eyes as tears' so I thought how on earth could it sting?

Well the first time I applied it to my eyes it did sting and I was disappointed. However, I have continued to use it and after the first application it no longer irritated my eyes.

So I wouldn't say it is as kind as tears, as my tears don't sting!

It is a really strange consistency, a slightly wattery gel, and it has no smell what so ever. It does remove make up effectively and it doesn't leave any sticky residue which I like.

I have always had to apply more than once to remove all of my eye make up unless I am only wearing mascara but anything else like eyeshadow and definitely eye liner I have needed 2 or 3 applications.

I probably wont buy it again at the moment as I feel £14 is too much when other cheaper products do the same.

Overall 6/10

PROS

  • The bottle is a nice small size to take on your travels or put in your handbag.
  • Don't need to apply much product for it to work effectively
  • Takes of make up well
  • Not oily
  • Doesn't leave residue

CONS
  • Quite expensive
  • Irritated my eyes on first application
