Goodbye 2013 thank you for the memories

Wow what a year it has been.  The toughest of my life bar none!  This time last year I was so unhappy and in an awful place.  I actually feel sick when I think about it so I'm going to choose to focus on how far I've come, the friends I've made, the new Adventures I've started. And the fact that I've made it this far. :-)

The bad times have been and gone and now the sun is shining again.  Slowly but surely it came out from behind the clouds.  Helped by all the treasured times with family and new friends.  Here are just some of those amazing memories.

Spending fun time with family. Me and my sis at a car boot sale, we met so many 'interesting' people. She bought a china tea set for £5, I nearly sold a real gold necklace for £1 oops!

Getting to watch my nephew grow.  I lived with him for 9 months and it was the best time. Even the 6am wake up calls with him knocking on my door shouting 'Ashhh'. I loved every minute.  He is the light of my life (ahh feeling so emosh)

Making new friends. This is the beautiful Laura from liparazziblog.com although we've known each other less than a year I feel like we've been friends all my life. She is such a lovely lass and now by BFF :-)

When I moved back to Aberdeen I really didn't know what I was going to do with myself.  When I was presented with an opportunity to have my own skincare business, Although it wasn't something originally I saw myself doing I thought I'm going to go for it and jumped in. I've met so many fantastic, inspirational, successful and strong women who I get to work with and honestly I couldn't be happier. I'm so proud of myself for putting my fear aside and just going for it and I'm so excited to see how far it takes me in 2014!

Me training a room full of people. Many who had been in the business months and months longer than me. Wow I wouldn't have believed I could do this at the beginning of the year.

And lastly and very importantly, I am so grateful to my mum for being such an amazing women and support without her I don't know where I would be.  She is so special and I can't wait to repay her for everything she has done for me (love you mum) soppy I know :-)

A huge thanks to all of you for following, reading and commenting on my posts.  I never thought when I started my blog if have one follower let alone all the rest. I love sharing with you all and hearing your thoughts and ideas.  Thank you all

I wish everyone a fantastic New Yeae and I can not wait to start 2014.  There is so much to look forward to.

Lots of love xxxx

Kurt Geiger Sale Picks!

So there I was browsing for a pair of shoes to go with my new green dress when I landed on the Kurt Geiger website and couldn't stop looking at all the pretty shoes and boots in their sale. I will be dreaming of closets of beautiful foot wear tonight for sure.  The plan was to do a blog post featuring sale picks from different shops but honestly I couldn't narrow it down from Kurt Geiger so here we are, a whole blog post filled with sale picks from the one shop!

left to right top to bottom

Faycie 2 - £95.00 £20
These are just beautiful, very Chanel esque at a small fraction of the price. I love the little heel.

Stirrup - £130 £45
I just love these. They are so cute.  Perfect worn with black ripped skinny jeans!

Christy - £120 £65
Black, strappy, court... need I say more?

Adriana - £140 £69
Another strappy court, slightly more statement with the gold buckle but my how they would add a wow look to any dress at New Year

Legal - £75 £29
There is something about the colour of these shoes that is just divine. Such a bargain too.

Glitz - £120 £49
Again this colour. So gorgeous. These are my favourite out of all the shoes here, well apart from stirrup. They are so femanine and delicate.

Studded Pump - £265 £105
Totally and utterly drawn to the khaki colour of these beauties.  Very Mcqueen!

Williamsburg - £220 £125
You can't beat a great pair of black over the knee boots. Feminine and fitted *love*

What do you think lovelies? Would love to hear if you've spotted any gorgeous shoes in the sales?

Merry Christmas and The Christmas Tag

Hello lovelies. It's Christmas eve and it is snowing!!!

This is the first year in about 10 years that I haven't had to travel at Christmas.  And I am so thankful because it was always so stressful, I hope that you all make it home for Christmas and travel safe.

So, it is time to sit back watch Christmas movies and relax with friends and family.  I am also going to head in to town later and meet my parents for a Christmas drink at Costa, I can't wait.  It is a little tradition that we have :-)  What are your traditions at Christmas?

In the Christmas spirit check out this Christmas tag video I filmed with Laura from liparazziblog (I apologise now for the dancing at the end).

I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas filled with love, lots of food and a jolly good time!!

REVEAL!! Gradient Glitter Christmas nails!!

Hi lovelies, it's less than 1 week till Xmas! I still haven't done all my Christmas shopping but I am planning on blitzing it all tomorrow morning :-) How are you all getting on? I bet your more organised than me?

Now I love a bit of glitter as much as the next gal and one thing I love at Christmas is that you can go all out over the top blinging and sparkling like a fairy on redbull.  So it was finally time for my Christmas manicure eeep!! So off I went to the nail salon to get myself all blinged out and after some serious deliberation on colours and patterns, I came back with these beauties!!

I absolutely love them.  They were £35 including infills at Polish Nail and Beauty Aberdeen.   The girls are absolutely lovely.  Especially Amy who has done my nails twice now and she is an absolute gem, always making sure I am happy with them asking "do you need more glitter" to which I reply yes!

So what do you think lovelies is there an improvement?! :-)

My New Dressing Table!!!

Hi everyone.  I know this isn't a Christmas post but I couldn't wait any longer to share it with you so I hope you don't mind :-)

I had been looking for the perfect dressing table for months.  I knew I wanted a silver dressing table and was originally looking at the mirrored furniture options, after being sent two seperate ones which both broke in transit I decided that wasn't going to happen without spending £500 so making my own was the way forward.

A couple of months ago I bought this old wooden dressing table from a charity furniture place.  I wasn't sure it was exactly what I was looking for but it was only £12.50 and was a great size to fit all my vanity products in and on.  So I thought what the heck I will give it a go!!

To be honest I had no idea what I was doing because I had never done anything like this before.

I started by lightly sanding the table with an electric sander and spraying on the Ronseal all surface quick drying Primer.

after a coat of primer and 1 coat of silver paint

Now it was on to the silver paint. I tried out a few like plasti-kote but they didn't give the courage I was looking for.  After spending some time at B & Q I chose the Craig & Rose metallic silver paint and used a small paint pad to apply 2 coats.  I did try applying the paint with a brush but found that it looked really uneven because of the brush strokes.

Then it was time for the antiquing effect.  After a lot of searching I came upon the Annie Sloan Dark wax.  I asked the lady at the Annie Sloan stockist if it would work with the silver paint rather than the Annie Sloan Chalk paint, unfortunately she was less than helpful but I decided to take the risk and give it a go anyway :-)

And I am so happy to say it worked!! I totally loved spending time working the wax in to the dressing table and creating the look I wanted.  I used the Annie Sloan large wax brush and an old cloth.

For a final touch I changed the handles to these lovely glass ones et voila!

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 63 Noir Prima Donna

I was lucky enough to be given a gorgeous YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in Noir Prima Donna (no 63) from my blogger pal Rachel, what a totally gorgeous gem she is!

"Pure Colour, satiny Radience"

This 'new generation' lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent comes in a beautiful gold case which doubles as a mirror, how fabulous.  The colours are inspired by Monsier Saint Laurent's classic colour palette of red, fuchsia and orange and there are many shades to choose from.

There are even cola brown and white shades for customising and blending.  The lipstick itself has an spf of 15.

I have only worn it once so far so can't give a full review but the colour was definitely intense and easily buildable.  It felt soft on my lips and didn't seep in to the cracks even though my lips were particularly dry that day.

I absolutely love the deep colour, I have nothing like it, and the packaging is to die for.  Thank you Rach :-)

What do you think of the colour lovelies?

Scottish Blogger Network Secret Santa!!!

ITS CHRISTMASSS!!! Well not quite yet but we are getting so close, it is such an exciting time of year.  Everyone is in good spirits and wants to have a great time, I honestly love it.  As a blogger I am certainly having a great time, we have our Christmas night out on the 18th December and here is my 2nd Secret Santa of the year.  This time it was organised by the delightful Kirsty from Scottish Blogger Network.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect, we were set a limit of £10 and it really was a secret who my 'santa' was.  The parcel arrived in this lovely pink paper I had a little shake and feel (as you do) but as usual I had to curb my excitement and take pictures before I could rip it open #bloggerproblems ha ha.

When I did open it, I was so excited to see the Smashbox try it kit, what an amazing gift! And I'm pretty sure it is waay over the £10 so very generous.  It contains 5 little minatures including their famous photo finish face primer and the photo finish lid primer.  I am really looking forward to trying everything, especially since I have been looking for a new eyeliner.  Plus they are a great size to pop in your clutch bag at a party :-)

A huge thank you to Kirsty for organising and to Judith my secret santa.  You really couldn't have picked anything better!

Make sure to pop over to Judith's blog 'the wee blondie' for a nosey, she has some great reveiws.

and it was well worth it, I picked up some fabulous bargains. I mean who can say no to a jumper for £5?
